SPRING BOARD CIVIC POOL COOK-OFF RULES
All Contestants are equal. There will be no Professional/Amateur Classifications.
Each team will consist of a chief cook and up to 4 assistants.
No cooking of any meat may begin until it has been inspected.All meat must start out raw.Once the meat has been inspected, it may not leave the contest site.Desserts may be prepared off site and brought in the day of cook-off.
Contestants must provide all needed equipment and supplies, including tables, chairs and tents if needed.Electricity is available on a first come, first serve basis and is limited.Teams must provide their own extension cord.
Designated cooking space size will depend on number of entries.We are currently planning on a 10x20 space for each team.
All pits must fit through a 10x10 gate.No trailer pits are permitted.
Judging times will be posted and sufficient time given between rounds. Advanced calling for an item is not required. Therefore if steak is scheduled for 1PM, plan to submit it to the turn-in table at 1PM.
Edible garnish is optional, but not required.
Each meat entry will be judged on taste, tenderness and appearance.
Gates open at 8AM.Cook’s Meeting at 10AM.
Each team is responsible for cleaning their cooking site at the close of cook-off.
To be eligible for Overall Champion, the team must enter all six categories: Bloody Mary, Steak, Chicken, Pork, Chef’s Choice and Dessert.
Hospitality scores are based on friendliness, booth decoration and overall appearance of team.This award is based on judge’s vote and/or cook-off attendees.
Judges have final say.
ADDITIONAL OPPORTUNITY FOR TEAMS:
If the team chooses to set out a tip jar and donate their tips to the pool/swim team, the team who turns in the most donation, will be given a certificate for a private party at Spring Board for up to 25 people during the 2017 summer season.
